Accountants and bookkeeper functions are very similar.  In general, the bookkeeper's purpose is to enter financial transactions and debit/credit the related accounts correctly. 

 

The accountant's purpose is to make sure that financial transactions were all recorded with the proper debits and credits, correct any errors with adjusting journal entries and then prepare and present company financial statements.
